Laser Cutter for Leather Plastics Materials

Leather Laser Engraving Cutting Machine for Sale

Leather is a very popular material for laser engraving and cutting for a variety of reasons. Raw leather sheets and prefab leather products are relatively affordable, extremely durable, and have a high perceived value, especially when lasers are used to personalize them for customers. Combining an ATOMSTACK laser with this versatile substrate can open the door to many lucrative applications and opportunities, from fashion accessories to promotional products and everything in between.

Suede is another soft leather that, while not as durable as the ones we mentioned above, can also be laser engraved and cut.

Synthetic or artificial leather is another popular option for lasers, available from many well-known manufacturers of laser-friendly substrates. If your faux leather doesn't clearly state that it's laser-safe, we recommend you check with the manufacturer to make sure it doesn't contain polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which can be harmful to you and your laser engraver.

The process of engraving or etching leather creates a dented effect and, depending on the leather surface, a distinct and clean contrast. Light-colored leather creates a pronounced color contrast, while sculpting darker leather creates a more subtle contrast. If you need dynamic color contrast, choose tan, beige or light brown leather.

The results of your engraving will mainly depend on the type of leather used and your laser speed, power and frequency settings. As with any material, we always recommend that you test different parameters until you get the results you want.

There are several benefits to using laser cutting leather. First, the laser provides a sealed cut that won't wear out or otherwise deteriorate. Second, unlike manual leather cutting tools like utility knives and rotary cutters, cutting leather with a laser is very fast, precise and, perhaps most importantly, consistent. Additionally, using laser cutting eliminates warping that sometimes occurs with hand tools.

With the Atomstack you can finish leather products with logos and designs. It is suitable both for laser engraving and laser cutting of leather. Common applications for the Atomstack are engravings on leather bracelets, shoes, purses or book covers.

The Atomstack is excellently suited to engraving on natural leather, suede and rough leather. It works equally well when engraving and cutting leatherette or nubuck and suede leather or microfiber materials, such as Alcantara.

Leather is an ideal material for laser engraving because whether you mark at high speed and low power or if you do a deep engraving, you will get a great contrast, already that leather gets very dark when the laser hits it.

Leather supports high-resolution engraving, making it an effective material for engraving logos and very small text, as well as high-resolution photos.

And compared to other materials, leather is easy to cut, so you can use a laser to cut pieces of complex shapes or add detail to your finished leather.

FAQS

Leather is an exceptionally popular material to laser engrave and cut for a variety of reasons. Raw leather sheets and premade leather products are relatively affordable, extremely durable, and have a high perceived value, especially when they are personalized for a customer with a laser.

Leather, a flexible and durable material, needs a significant amount of power to be vaporized and pierced using a laser. They typically have a power of 40 W and above, the recommended minimum for cutting leather of various kinds.

For practical and high-quality leather cutting, we recommends semiconductor (diode) lasers with an output power of 3.5 W and higher, something like 5-5.6 watt laser power output. The use of lasers with higher power will significantly reduce the time of cutting or engraving and will allow cutting thicker samples.

Cowhide: Widely used for clothing, furniture and leather goods. Cowhide is durable, easy to care for and widely available in different colors and thickness. Lambskin: Soft and velvety, lightweight. Pigskin: Lightweight and silky, with distinctive natural patterns.

All the natural leathers and some synthetic leathers, like suede, are suitable for laser cutting as they don't produce any harmful fumes during the process. Whereas synthetic leathers that contain some type of vinyl or PVC produce toxic fumes that are harmful to your health and can also damage the machine.

Laser engraving machines, also known as laser cutters or CNC machines, are used to create high-quality laser-engraved designs on a variety of materials, such as metal, wood, acrylic, glass, plastic, leather, stone, and more.
